A Round-up of Project 2025 Happening NOW

On Tuesday, 45 engaged in some political theater. In an effort to disavow Project 2025, he forced Paul Dans to step down from his role at the Heritage Foundation and announced that its policy work was concluded.

THIS IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT.

For months, I’ve compiled a periodic series called Project 2025: Happening NOW. In red states. In the judiciary. At the Supreme Court. 45’s desperate repudiation changes nothing about Project 2025’s implementation in red state America. It doesn’t revoke the Supreme Court’s recent overturning of Chevron, a Project 2025 policy goal. Nor does it change the Supreme Court’s decision on Presidential immunity, allowing for Project 2025’s objective to make a Republican President into a dictator/king.

Today, I’m compiling a gift for Democratic strategists: All the Project 2025 Happening NOW talking points I’ve covered in 6 months of doing this work.

My inaugural Project 2025 Happening NOW newsletter from 29 April.

From book bans to sex privacy to forced religious indoctrination, this newsletter has something for everyone:

Project 2025 Happening NOW: A Recurring Series

On April 30, I did a newsletter on Project 2025 Happening NOW: The Supreme Court. This was BEFORE their ruling that made the President a dictator. BEFORE they overturned Chevron. BEFORE they allowed public servants to be “tipped.” BEFORE Clarence Thomas targeted same-sex marriage and contraception in an opinion. Some of these cases have since been decided, but it’s a window into how much this Supreme Court has worked to make Project 2025 a reality:

I’ve also done red state-themed Project 2025 Happening NOW newsletters. Here’s one for Texas:

I spent a week deconstructing Oklahoma’s pending anti-pornography legislation proposed by state representative Dusty Deevers, a stellar name for a porn star. Since Project 2025 calls for a nationwide porn ban, this bill is an example of what that might look like:

We could talk about how the Medical University of South Carolina banned transgender care for children AND ADULTS because of obscure language the legislature inserted into a May 2024 bill.

Or how Iowa banned abortion at around six weeks just two days ago.

Or almost everything Ron DeSantis and his cronies in the state legislature and judiciary do in Florida.

Or the 524 anti-LGBTQ bills the ACLU is tracking around the country.

Or Louisiana’s law requiring the Ten Commandments in public schools.

Or every state that allows school vouchers to be used to pay for religious schools.

Or book bans being tracked by the American Library Association.

A flailing Presidential candidate can denounce Project 2025. The mainstream media can report that it has been disbanded. But that will not stop red states and the judiciary from continuing to implement its dastardly policies.

We must not stop educating Americans about Project 2025. Because Project 2025 IS the true platform of the entire Republican Party. We must defeat them at every level of government in November.

  • THE DEATH OF SCIENCE: Trump's Project 2025: Up Close & Personal
    The Enemies List

    Rick Wilson's The Enemies List

To start, special guest host Stuart Stevens weighs in on day one of the confirmation hearings and the abomination that is the slate of nominees Trump has put forward for some of the most important positions in the Executive Branch. In Chapter 3, the fact-based fictional story of Dr. Yvette Hardman and JJ Newsom depicts the dismantling of expertise and science-based decision making in the federal government under a possible second Trump administration guided by Project 2025. Dr. Hardman, an experienced infectious disease expert, is removed from her position at the CDC and replaced by JJ Newsom, an unqualified political loyalist with no relevant experience. This reflects Project 2025's plan to fill government positions with partisan appointees rather than nonpartisan experts. The new administration rejects science-based pandemic response recommendations from Dr. Hardman instead prioritizing political and economic considerations over public health. This aligns with Project 2025's directives to limit the CDC's ability to make public health recommendations. The story highlights the Trump administration's hostility towards science and the displacement of experienced civil servants, which Project 2025 seeks to accelerate through measures like the "Schedule F" executive order to reclassify and fire federal employees. Overall, the narrative illustrates how a second Trump term guided by Project 2025 would undermine the role of expertise and independent scientific advice in government, with potentially disastrous consequences for public health and safety. This special series is a joint production by David Pepper and Resolute Square. Chapter Two of Trump’s Project 2025: Up Close and Personal depicts the personal story of Eve, a nurse struggling with infertility, whose treatment is threatened by the new president's executive order banning certain fertility treatments. The episode explores how the president's policies would impact everyday Americans, particularly women and families, by interfering with reproductive freedom and the right to self-determination. The author of the serialized novel “2025,” upon which this podcast series is based, David Pepper, highlights how the fictional story is directly based on the policies outlined in the Trump’s Project 2025 and the president's own words, underscoring the very real and devastating consequences a second Trump term and the implementation of Project 2025 could have.
